Would you join me...

In praying for a sweet little family that I have come to "know" over the past weeks? An aunt of a child born with hydrocephalus contacted me telling me about her sweet niece, Seeley, that had been born in Omaha 10 weeks ago. She found my blog through Michelle's blog and we had been emailing back and forth for the past 8 or so weeks. Recently Seeley's mom, Lori, had also commented on my blog. They have not had the most positive stay in the NICU, but after 9 long weeks, the plan was to do a g button/fundoplication surgery and she would be able to go home within a couple weeks. I was cheering with them.

The surgery was Monday, and I recieved an email from Seeley's aunt today saying that Seeley had contracted an infection from the surgery and went into cardiac arrest early this morning.. They were able to bring her back after 45 minutes, but the damage has been done, and they have said that Seeley is now "brain dead. The parents will have to make the decision to let her go. This absolutely breaks my heart. It reminds me of how quickly things can change.

If you are so inclined...would you join me in praying. I know the family would greatly appreciate it!

Oh Jill...Thanks for letting us know. I haven't really had any contact since I hooked her up with the locals and I haven't done a round of "just checking in" emails in a while. I will be saying an extra prayer (or three) for their family tonight. Thank you so much for the support that you have shown this family, I'm sure that it has made all the difference for them to have someone so understanding with them during this time!

My husband and I thankyou for all the prayers. We really aren't for sure if an infection was the cause or a herniated brain stem. Now that she is gone I do not want to know, it won't bring her back to me. After 45 minutes of chest compressions the nurse and doctor came up to me and said she's gone. After I think a couple minutes had passed they laid her in bed and her heartbeat was back. I went to her and told her everything was okay and that she would be fine. Hours later before my husband got there, I look into her eyes and I knew she was gone. That she already left her body and was dancing with the angels. I think God and her got together and let her heartbeat come back after so long that mommy and daddy could say goodbye.(and to let those docs know they aren't the ones to say when!) My parents and my nurse ( who I call Seeley INC.) all came even on her day off to say goodbye. They were her family too. It will be hard to not have her here. She was supposed to come home on Monday. But now I am laying her to rest that day. I know she is having a blast in heaven and I will see her again. Thankyou for this place. I just started reaching out to Hydro Moms, and I am glad I found you! Thank you and I will speak blessing over your families.
